SMITHY

The 16th century was the beginning of shoeing. A good master tried to have his horse shoed because of stones and slippery roads. Every horseshoe was forged according to the size of a hoof. Already from the 14th century people believed that a horseshoe brings happiness, if it is fastened above the door.
Various sizes of horseshoes are in the smithy of the Museum. You can also see tools used by a smith: iron tongs, for taking iron from the forge, a hammer, chisels and some things made there.
