Horse-carriages at the end of the19th at the beginning of the 20th centuries were different according to their size, construction and harnessing in every ethnographical area. You can see working and holiday carriages for summer and winter seasons.
For every day work Aukstaiciai used carts, sledge, carriages with high edges for carrying hay, corn, soil, for building roads. Foresters used horse-carriage “lineika” called “goats”. In Dzukija holiday horse-carriages were called “bricka”. They are one-horse with metal springs.
Suvalkieciai and Zemaiciai had light horse-carriages. They are two-horse, but sometimes they harness only one horse. Two-horse carriages have low grating and were used for going to the market or church. Till the middle of the 20th century holiday winter horse-carriages were used for going to a town, church during family or winter festivals. They were painted brown, grey green or black.
