EDUCATION

All December and January there has been quite a noise in the Homestead of Aukštaitija Region caused by children coming from Anykščiai, Utena, Vilnius and Kaunas. The children came to participate in the educational program called “At the White Table of Christmas Eve”. Together with Museum employee Nijole Kackuviene, the school pupils discuss the Advent, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day customs, lay the table and help themselves to the 12 traditional Christmas Eve dishes as well as play games, ride a horse and have a nice evening with Santa Claus.

Nijole Kackuviene gives ethnographical lessons at the Museum. Schoolchildren not only from Anyksciai, but also from Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevezys, Utena come to hear about Lithuanian traditions, festivals, do practical tasks, work with the exhibits.
