A project cold
“The Development of the Horse Museum”,
sponsored by PHARE 2000 ESS found, was
carried out in the Horse Museum in 2003. The
project aimed ad solving the problems of
survival and protection of the unique
valuables of the Horse Museum as well as the
sanitary problems. Carrying out the project,
there were substituted the worn-out roofs of
the ethnographic farm and the barn where the
exposition is located. The water-supply and
burglar-alarm systems were constructed too.
Also there were carried out the advertising
activities: a number of publications and new
editions on the Horse Museum were published
and a website was created as well as
information stands were made.
The Museum
expects the renovation of the Museum
buildings and the developed spread of
information will increase the number of
visitors. It was clearly noticed already in
the process of carrying out the project.
The
opportunities of developing the Horse Museum
activities are under discussions now. To
turn the Horse Museum and attractive tourist
destination in all aspects, the Museum plans
to construct a closed manage, renovate the
present hippodrome and build some more farms
of Aukstaitija region.
